"Turning in Buget Plan for Next Year"

I presented my own idea for our budget next year, and turned it in to Mr. Seki, the Mayor of Osaka city.

The fields I covered vary: I included some educational and welfare problems, and also introduced some ideas toward the new system in our city government.

"Renaissance of Light in OSAKA 2003"

Osaka city is being lighted up!

You can find a big Christmas tree from Norway in front of the city hall, and the streets nearby (Nakanoshima St.) is being light up during the night.

You may want to take a look: that's really worth seeing!

"Rice-cake Making Festival"

PTAs and block association organized this event for kids, where they tried to pound steamed rice into rice cake in an old, traditional way. --- They also let me try: that was much harder than it looked!

But I think it a good chance to know how we make it: some young people today do know know what rice-cake is made of! (We were so used to buy ready-made one!)

"GR reported on TV"

Some newsreporters came to my office on October 29 to collect news materials, and my political activities with my fellows (GR) were reported on TV. I talked about my own opinion toward the current political situation. They also filmed one of my ordinary scenes with citizens.

"Making a Vote-getting Speech at Yokohama"

Our Paliament was dissolved at the end of October, and we are going to have House of Representatives election for this coming weekend, November 9. I was at Yokohama, helping my former boss, Mr. Eda, give an election campaign. We all made a vote-getting speeches at every station in the election district.

"GRs make a street speech!"

I have set up a group called "Generation Revolution" with the seven other young city councilors of Kansai. "Gene-Revo" (also written as "GR" for short) has started its activity sharing the aim to encourage the young Japanese to be interested in what's going on in our society.

The young people in Japan are said not to be interested in politics: the former voting rate of those who are under 25 was 35%, which is the lowest of the other generations.

But our members, most of whom are in their twenties, all agree that younger are still have eyes for making the current situation better--- they just don't know throwing a vote has something to do with improving our society.

So, we had made a campaign, at all the major cities in Kansai area, calling on other people to vote for the election of Lower House Election held on November. 9.

Our activity had caught attention of the media, and was reported in some newspapers and TVs.

"Attends Child-raising
Supporting Club"

Was at the sports festival of the club, organized by the members(all neighbors!). They started this activity to have their kids enjoy with other playmates. I found it nice because it gave children a chance to communicate with peers, while they'd had have less chances to do so in the society of the falling birthrate.
